Vols vs. Jackets Showdown: Can Freshman Faizon Brandon Outduel Georgia Tech's Mendoza?
No. 18 Tennessee travels to Bobby Dodd Stadium Saturday night to face Georgia Tech in a Week 2 clash featuring two teams breaking in new signal-callers. True freshman Faizon Brandon dazzled in his debut, throwing for 226 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 68 yards and two more scores in a 56-9 rout of Furman.
Georgia Tech's Alberto Mendoza also impressed in his first start, completing 17-of-23 passes for 237 yards, but the Yellow Jackets managed just 13 points in a heartbreaking 14-13 loss to Colorado. Tennessee enters as an 11.5-to-12.5-point favorite, with the total set at 55.5, as Brandon faces his first true road test and hostile environment.
With Jim Knowles' defense and star linebacker Arion Carter back from suspension, Tennessee looks to make an early statement in Atlanta.
