Dunbar Storms Back to Snatch Stage 19 as Mas Edges Closer to Vuelta Glory
Eddie Dunbar produced a stunning late surge to win Stage 19 of the 2026 Vuelta a España on the brutal Alto de Peñas Blancas summit finish, catching and passing Santiago Buitrago inside the final 500 metres for his third career Vuelta stage victory.
Buitrago had looked set for a maiden Vuelta win after attacking with two kilometres remaining, but faded as Dunbar clawed back the gap and struck decisively.
Behind, race leader Enric Mas comfortably matched his GC rivals — including Roglic, Carapaz and Gall — on the 210.8km mountain stage, keeping the red jersey intact with just one summit showdown left before Sunday's finale in Madrid.
