๐จ๐ NASA Discovers 84 Mysterious Cosmic Objects Hidden in Distant Galaxies
Scientists using NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory have discovered 84 mysterious cosmic objects that appear to behave unlike any previously known class. Found across six galaxies, including the Andromeda and Pinwheel galaxies, these objects have been dubbed “hypersoft X-ray sources.”
Unlike typical powerful X-ray sources, they produce unusually low-energy X-rays while apparently generating intense ultraviolet radiation.
Researchers believe the objects could involve black holes, neutron stars or white dwarfs feeding on companion stars—but their exact nature remains unknown. The discovery may also help scientists investigate two major cosmic puzzles: the possible origins of Type Ia supernovae and the mysterious process that strips electrons from interstellar gas.
Scientists say these hidden sources may represent a much larger population that previous observations simply failed to detect.
