Saudi Arabia Issues, Then Lifts, Emergency Alerts Across Mecca, Jeddah, Taif Amid Houthi Escalation

Saudi Arabia's Civil Defense issued brief emergency alerts on Tuesday warning of "potential danger" in Mecca, Jeddah, and Taif, along with Abha, Jazan, AlUla, and Yanbu, marking the first such warning in Mecca since the regional war began.
Residents were urged to move indoors immediately and stay away from windows and doors. The alerts were lifted within minutes after authorities confirmed the danger had passed. The warnings followed a Houthi-claimed missile and drone attack a day earlier that injured 13 civilians in Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif, damaging homes and vehicles.
The Saudi-led coalition vowed to respond "firmly" under its right to self-defense, as tensions with Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi movement continue to escalate across the kingdom's west and south.
