BBC Faces Big Decision as Monty Don Prepares to Step Down From Gardeners' World

Monty Don, host of Gardeners' World for 23 years, has announced he is leaving the BBC series, leaving fans and producers wondering who could fill his shoes. Adam Frost remains a popular figure among viewers, though Monty has said he'd prefer someone different altogether.

Frances Tophill, who has appeared on the show for a decade, has long been floated as a possible successor, but has expressed reluctance about taking on the role. Jamie Butterworth, a younger gardening expert previously called Don's "protegé," is another name in the conversation.

Whoever takes over inherits a show closely tied to Don's own garden, Longmeadow. Don himself has said he'd like his successor to be female and reflect Britain's diversity.
