Trump Urges Parents to Claim Child's Account After Auto-Enrollment Rollout

President Donald Trump urged parents on Wednesday to claim their child's new investment account after the Treasury Department completed automatic enrollment for Trump Accounts, a major expansion of the tax-advantaged program created under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

Every eligible American child under 18 with a valid Social Security number now has an account, with Treasury expecting the change to add more than 60 million accounts this year, pushing coverage close to universal.

The move marks a shift from the original opt-in system, which officials said would have stalled near 50% enrollment. To manage the account and allow contributions from family, friends, or employers, a parent or guardian must claim it through the official Trump Accounts app.

Accounts can receive up to $5,000 annually in contributions and are invested collectively through a Treasury-administered master trust, while remaining separately maintained for each child.
