Shaun Murphy Survives Decider Drama to Set Up English Open Semi-Final vs. Mark Williams
Shaun Murphy edged past Judd Trump 6-5 in a gripping final-frame decider to reach the semi-finals of the BetVictor English Open in Brentwood. World number seven Murphy built a 5-4 lead before Trump fired back with a brilliant 112 clearance, his second century of the match, to force a decider.
Murphy held his nerve, sealing victory with his fourth half-century break of the match, a 67. Mark Williams beat fellow Welshman Liam Davies 6-3 to reach the last four, while Ding Junhui thrashed Kyren Wilson 6-2 and Ali Carter fought back from 5-3 down to edge Zhou Yuelong 6-5.
Both semi-finals take place Saturday, with Ding facing Carter at 12:00 BST, followed by Murphy against Williams at 18:00 BST.
