Russian Strike on Pavlohrad Shopping Center Kills Five, Injures 67 Including Children
At least five people were killed and 67 others wounded, including eight children, when a Russian strike hit a shopping center in Pavlohrad, central Ukraine, on Thursday afternoon.
Regional governor Oleksandr Ganja confirmed the updated toll, while Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi said the attack happened "in broad daylight whilst the streets were packed with people," causing damage to commercial premises and vehicles.
The strike came as both Russia and Ukraine intensify long-range attacks far behind the front lines, increasingly targeting civilian sites alongside factories, refineries, and ports. UN-verified statistics show Ukrainian civilian deaths are now at their highest rate since the war's early months in 2022.
The attack followed a phone call between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump described by the Kremlin as "extremely frank," as Canada pledged fresh military and energy aid to Ukraine.
