 Coach Prime Answers the Critics

Colorado escaped Bobby Dodd Stadium with a nail-biting 14-13 win over Georgia Tech, but not before reporter Jake Shapiro tore into Deion Sanders' special teams unit for repeated breakdowns during the game. Shapiro pointed out that Sanders has struggled with special teams issues for four years running, and voiced frustration when Colorado's coverage unit failed to properly execute a kick that gave Georgia Tech better field position.

Despite the criticism, Colorado pulled off a win that was thrilling, chaotic, sloppy and baffling all at once, with quarterback Julian Lewis finding Charlie Williams for the go-ahead touchdown with under a minute left, before a blocked field goal as time expired sealed the victory.

Sanders, never one to dodge the noise, brushed off the doubters afterward. He said the win meant a lot to his players, insisted he doesn't rattle easily, and told critics to keep talking if it helps them sell papers and get clicks — just not to get sensitive when he talks back.

He also had fun with the box score, joking about Colorado's 183 rushing yards compared to Georgia Tech's 51, pushing back on the idea that his roster is undersized. Colorado now turns to host Weber State at Folsom Field on September 12.
