Clancy Jury Returns for Seventh Day Amid Deadlock

Jurors in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial resumed deliberations Friday, now stretching nearly 40 hours over seven days without reaching a verdict.

A tense sidebar erupted Thursday after defense attorney Kevin Reddington accused one juror of refusing to "listen to the law" and formally asked that the panel member be removed from deliberations.

Judge William Sullivan denied the request, stating the juror's note did not indicate a refusal to follow legal instructions. He reminded the full jury that they must apply the law as given, regardless of personal feelings, before sending them back to continue deliberating.

Clancy, who has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the deaths of her three children, has a defense built around the claim that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time.

If jurors return another deadlock notice, a mistrial becomes increasingly likely.
