British Royal Relative Nicholas Brandram Found Dead at 44 Amid Cleared Suspicion
Nicholas Brandram, a British banker and second cousin of King Felipe VI of Spain through Queen Sofía's family line, was found dead at his home in Chiswick, west London, this week. The Metropolitan Police described the death as unexpected but found no indication of criminality.
Brandram had spent months under investigation in the unresolved 2017 "Putney Pusher" case, in which a runner shoved a woman into oncoming traffic on Putney Bridge. He was arrested in June but never formally charged, as prosecutors found no forensic evidence linking him to the incident.
His family released a statement saying he endured lasting shame and anxiety from an accusation police themselves acknowledged lacked evidentiary basis, describing the toll of the prolonged, ultimately unfounded investigation on his wellbeing.
