Bear Sighted Near Russian School on First Day of Classes, Sparks Safety Alert
A wild bear wandered into the town of Krasnoturyinsk in Russia's Sverdlovsk region on September 1, Knowledge Day — the country's traditional first day of school — and was spotted near School No. 28.
The following evening, the same animal was seen again in the nearby Metallurg settlement.
Local officials confirmed this is not an isolated incident, as bears have been sighted repeatedly around the city in recent weeks, including near residential gardens and the 42nd district.
On August 31, hunters shot another bear that had been raiding trash containers in a nearby garden and was deemed dangerous.
Authorities urged residents to avoid nearby forest areas and report any sightings immediately.
