Iran-UAE Tensions Escalate: Al Minhad Air Base Struck by Drones Amid Widening Gulf Conflict
Iran's army said early Monday that it had launched a drone attack on the United Arab Emirates' Al Minhad Air Base, according to a statement carried by Iranian state television. The army said the strike targeted locations within the base where U.S. forces and helicopters were stationed.
Tehran described the operation as retaliation for the killing of members of Iran's Revolutionary Guards and Iranian civilians on Larak Island. The claimed attack follows an earlier Iranian assault on two U.S. bases in Jordan, which was also framed as a response to the Larak Island strikes.
The UAE has not issued any official comment confirming or denying Iran's claim, and its defence ministry has remained silent on the matter so far. The reported strike comes amid a broader escalation in the region, following President Trump's recent claim that U.S. strikes were devastating Iran's Kharg Island energy hub.
